Sean “Diddy” Combs’ Sentencing Scheduled for October 3 After Bail Denied

Sean “Diddy” Combs will be sentenced on October 3 at 10 a.m. ET, following a federal judge’s decision to deny him bail after his recent conviction.

The hip-hop mogul was found guilty on two counts of transportation for prostitution during his trial on Wednesday, July 2. While he managed to avoid the more serious charges of sex trafficking and racketeering, the jury’s decision still leaves him facing significant jail time.

Shortly after the verdict was delivered, Combs’ attorney, Marc Agnifilo, urged the court to consider releasing him under certain conditions by Thursday. But federal prosecutors strongly objected, arguing that allowing Combs to walk free would pose a “real risk” to public safety.

Judge Aran Subramanian sided with the prosecution, delivering a firm rejection of the bail request. He pointed to the defence’s own closing arguments, where they acknowledged Combs’ history of violence.

“You full-throatedly in your closing argument told the jury that there was violence here,” Judge Subramanian told Agnifilo. “‘We own the domestic violence. We own it.’

The judge noted that although the defence succeeded in securing acquittals on the most severe charges, “domestic violence is violence” and that was sufficient reason to deny bail.

He clarified that while such evidence will not factor into Combs’ sentencing, it can legally be used in bail considerations. Each of the two counts Combs was convicted on carries a maximum sentence of 10 years, meaning he could face up to 20 years in prison. Initially detained in September 2024, Combs had previously offered a $50 million bond, backed by equity in his properties and a pledge to submit to security monitoring. Despite this, he was denied bail three times before eventually withdrawing his bid in December.

A virtual pre-sentencing hearing between Judge Subramanian and the involved parties is scheduled for Tuesday, July 8, at 2 p.m., ahead of Combs’ official sentencing in October. As the countdown to sentencing begins, the spotlight remains on one of the most controversial and closely watched legal cases in the entertainment world.
