After years of being one of Nigeria’s most talked-about celebrity couples, music legend 2Baba (Innocent Idibia) has finally opened up about his split from his longtime partner, actress Annie Idibia.
During a recent episode of a podcast hosted by popular OAP and TV personality Nedu and his co-hosts, 2Baba offered a rare, heartfelt glimpse into what really happened or rather, what he’s choosing to keep private.
When asked if there was anything he could have done differently in their marriage, the African Queen crooner responded with honesty and respect:
“I think both of us gave it our best,” he said calmly. “Why we’re not together today, it’s not something I’m going to start talking about here in public. me and her we get our understanding. She’s amazing, like I said earlier. It just wasn’t working no more. That’s just it.”
Despite the pressure to reveal more, 2Baba stood his ground when asked whether the separation was his fault or Annie’s.
“That one na something wey don happen. That’s why I say I no go talk that one here,” he added.
It’s a response that speaks volumes not just about maturity, but also about the deep history and bond that still exists between the two, even amid a breakup.
For years, 2Baba and Annie’s relationship has played out in the public eye from romantic highs and emotional lows, to reconciliations and candid moments on Netflix’s Young, Famous & African.
